Costix is a small village in the centre of Mallorca, 38 km from Palma and 10 km from the city of Inca. Nearby you can find the towns of Sineu, Sencelles and Inca. Its population is around 1.500 inhabitants. In the municipality of Costitx there are two small villages: Ruberts and Jornets.

This locality has preserved its authentic character with most of the houses built with local stone. Its town centre is very well preserved, with the town hall building, the church of Mare de Deu de Costitx and the church square standing out.

Within its boundaries is the Talayotic sanctuary of Son Corro, where bronze heads of bulls known as caps de bou were found, which are currently kept in the National Archaeological Museum in Madrid and are the identifying symbol of this town. These pieces date from the 5th to 2nd centuries BC and are proof of the worship of bulls by the local population.

The Astronomical Observatory of Mallorca also stands out, located in this town due to the low intensity of light in the area at night, which allows you to see the stars in the sky very clearly. It is also home to one of the main collections of meteorites in Europe.
